What is 26.too?
We're a community of folks, curious enough about a marathon to encourage each other to run one. It could be for you if you: ✅Have considered running a marathon, but haven’t taken the 1st step yet. ✅Enjoy running and want to push yourself to run your 1st marathon. ✅Ran a marathon before, but it’s been awhile, and you want others to cheer you on. ✅Only want to check it out, test the waters, learn from others. ✅Entertain the idea of a marathon but want to train for a ½ marathon first… ✅Still remember the elation of your 1st marathon and want to help others do the same! Wait, HEROES? You better believe it. So whether you are a marathon veteran, in the middle of your training, or considering running your first marathon - 26.too is a community of people eager to encourage each other on the journey. Why 26.too? Well, you’ve probably heard the story of the 1st marathon. You know, the guy who ran from Marathon to Athens to tell of the victory and then collapsed and died? Yeah, Pheidippides. The story is probably easier to remember than the name. And even that is debatable - some accounts say that Pheidippides ran 300 miles before that in 3 days (from Athens to Sparta to Athens - 150 miles each way!) to get recruit help from the Spartans - and then ran the “marathon” run! Other accounts say he did the Sparta run and someone else ran the Marathon. Still others say the death at the end of the run was an honorable exaggeration that was added later to immortalize the heroic feat. (That should make your family feel better about you running a marathon, right?😬) But whether Pheidippides was the runner or someone else, and whether that runner died or not - 1 thing stands out in all accounts. The runner was alone. That’s tough. Unfortunately, in our modern-day culture, isolation is even more prevalent. And just as dangerous. Whether it was from lack of training (unlikely), lack of footwear (also unlikely), lack of sleep (a bit more likely), the famous run suffered most from:

Looking into starting to run
Hey there, I'd like to introduce myself and share my goals. I am new to running and have signed up to a Half Marathon in April next year. I have no prior experience in running and had my first few runs in the past two weeks. I ran between 2 - 5 km each time and I wonder how I can propperly set goals and design my training. Any help is appreciated!
Still running in the cold?
I know it's getting cold around our region now that it's December...are you all still running through the winter in the cold? Or do you enjoy mild temperatures year round where you are?
Stories?
For those who recently ran a marathon, have any stories to tell the group on how it went - either according to plan or with surprises? Let's keep encouraging each other - marathons are no joke! :)
