A day's portion
"Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day."
— Exodus 16:4 (RSV-CE)
God fed two million people in a desert, and He did it one day at a time. There a million lessons wrapped up in this.
Bread showed up every morning in the portion that God knew was needed, which simply put, was enough to meet your needs for that day. Anyone who tried to stockpile extra found it spoiled overnight.
God was not being stingy. He was teaching them that tomorrow's bread was already His problem. The peace you can derive from this is boundless.
Most of us want the twelve-month version of provision. The full pipeline, the fat reserve account, the guaranteed forecast, etc. What God usually gives a founder looks more like manna: enough for today, again and again, morning after morning, or month after month. That doesn't mean we don't make sacrifices.
The encouraging part is that the manna never missed a day. Forty years in that desert, and the bread showed up every single morning.
He's not behind on your business. Gather today's portion and get back to it tomorrow.
Be ambitious, but trust in your portion.
