Dr. Pang's Q&A on Qigong Therapy-31
[31] What should be done for patients with chronic illnesses?
Some people say that as these patients have been with us for a long time, they have adapted to this Qi field. The term "adaptation" actually means that their consciousness has formed a fixed pattern, and they are trapped by this fixed pattern.
In this situation, if their consciousness does not change, the Qi field will not be able to function properly. Therefore, the key for these patients is to solve their mental problems through talk therapy.
The "talk therapy" must be targeted and discussed case by case. It should not simply be said that their consciousness is not up to standard. Once their consciousness is all right, why do we need a teacher? We are here to help them pass this hurdle.
For example, someone might say, "I'm having a really hard time practicing today." Don't just get impatient and say, "Stop practicing and take a break!" Then, how could their illness get any better?
Old patients should be given more care. When they are in discomfort, you should say, "I'll give you some energy. Keep going and try harder."
