Scripture:
“Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39 (NKJV)
There are days when the waves seem higher than your faith, and the wind louder than your prayers. You do all you know to do—pray, stand, believe—but the storm doesn’t break right away. It’s in these moments that we often cry out, “Lord, don’t You care that I’m perishing?” (Mark 4:38).
But notice something powerful: Jesus didn’t panic. He didn’t shout over the storm. He spoke into it. One command—“Peace, be still”—and the chaos bowed to His authority.
The truth is, Jesus was never absent from the boat. He was just silent until the right moment. The same is true for you today. His silence isn’t His absence—it’s His strength at rest, waiting for the perfect time to move.
Sometimes God doesn’t calm the storm right away because He’s teaching your heart to find peace in the storm. He wants your faith to learn the rhythm of His whisper, not the roar of your fear.
If you’re in a storm today, take a deep breath and remember:
The same voice that spoke the universe into existence is in your boat.
The same hands that stilled the sea holds your heart.
The same love that went to the cross is still fighting for your peace. You don’t have to shout to reach Him. You only have to trust the whisper that says, “I’m here.”
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that even when the waves rise and I feel small, You are still in control. Teach me to listen for Your whisper in the wind. Calm my anxious thoughts and fill me with Your peace. I trust that You are working, even when I cannot see it. In Your Holy Name, amen.
