Welcome to Writing for Children with children’s author Rachel Harmsworth. This is a space for adults who want to write children’s books and are in the early stages of their first project.
This space is ideal if you:
  • Want to write for young readers (ages 7–9) or middle grade (ages 9–12)
  • Love imaginative stories, including fantasy and animal-led fiction
  • Prefer structure and guidance before drafting
This is a craft-led community, not a publishing hype space. We focus on planning strong children’s stories, including age range, character, plot, fantasy logic, and age-appropriate voice.
What You’ll Get
  • Planning-focused craft lessons
  • Practical prompts and templates
  • Monthly live planning sessions and Q&A
  • Guided critique
I’m Rachel Harmsworth, a children’s author with a BA in English Literature & Creative Writing and an MA in Writing for Children. I created this space because beginners are often given vague encouragement or advice that skips the foundations. Here, we slow down and build stories properly.
