Have you ever just did house stuff instead??
Instead of what you planned? Instead of what you should be doing?
My Grandson just moved out, but he did not clean up his room or take any of his stuff. I decided I'm going to take his room over as my own bedroom and maybe my office too... Well, I stopped what I should have been doing and jumped in there. I WISH I had the before pictures! It was pretty bad. Here are pictures while in the process. I think I'm going to wall paper the walls are cheep paneling with lots of holes and painted white. Maybe fabric on the walls?
