Fun Friday Activity!πŸŽ‰
For all of my Equine Assisted Learning Facilitators, this one is for you πŸ˜‰
For the rest of the summer, I am hosting a book club on our farm for children going into grades 2nd-4th. They will be working with our horses to help inspire them to become authors. They will be writing their own stories based on our horses as we go through all of the elements of a good story. I made this graphic as a visual reminder of the different story elements; characters, setting, problem, and solution. It is set up in a puzzle format so each week they can add to the puzzle until it is complete. The children really seemed to enjoy this graphic and look forward to adding to our puzzle each week, so I thought I would share it with you!
I also attached a "Character Trait" sheet I used to introduce our horses in case you would like to do the same for your herd. I cut out the pictures and asked the children to match the pictures with the real horses. After they taped the pictures onto the correct horse's stall, I asked the children to interact with the horse however they felt comfortable and the on a Post-It note, write down one word they could use to describe them, representing the character traits. They did this for all of the horses! I'd love your feedback, so feel free to share your comments below
If you were ever thinking of starting your own book club for kiddos that visit your farm, I'd be happy to help you! It is such a fun way to get families out to your farm while helping the children practice literacy concepts in an interactive way where they could show their creative side!
