🏁 Race Day Report – Hudy Series Round 4 at DMCC!
C Final – 1st Place 🥇 Clubman – 3rd Overall 🥉 What a brilliant day’s racing at Dublin Model Car Club! Plenty of close battles, setup learning, and great vibes in the pits. 🔧 Qualifying Recap I qualified P1 in the C Final after four solid qualifying rounds. Q1 No setup changes – just drove the car as it was. Felt good out of the box. Q2 – First Tweaks - Moved front camber link to outer position on the hub→ Less snappy mid-corner, more stable entry. Q3 – More Fine-Tuning - Removed shim on front inner ball joint→ Front was collapsing and pushing on exit, so not ideal. - Added 2mm shim to rear inner ball joint→ More rear grip, more planted feel. Q4 – Perfecting It - Added 2mm shim under front inner ball joint→ Much better steering and no collapsing mid-corner. - Added another 2mm rear inner shim (4mm total)→ Massive improvement. More drive out of corners without upsetting the car. By Q4 the car felt super balanced — predictable, stable, and confident. 🏆 Finals – 3 Legs, Best 2 to Count Final 1 – P1 Clean start, pushed early, built a lead. A few mid-race mistakes but held it together and finished strong. Final 2 – P1 Another clean first lap, tidy overall, just a couple of tiny offs. Good pace, smooth driving. Another win. Final 3 – P3 False start → restart. Lap 2 disaster 😂 A few big mistakes dropped me to the back. Clawed back through the field to finish P3. 🎉 Overall Result **1st, 1st, 3rd → **🏆 WINNER of the C Final! This should put me 13th overall, and once split into classes, I finished: 👉 3rd in Clubman 🚀 Big takeaway: Consistency beats outright speed. Clean laps > fastest laps. Smooth driving wins races. 👧 Lexi’s Day – Great Progress! Lexi qualified 5th in the D Final, improving every run. Her lap times and overall pace were noticeably better than previous weeks. She’s getting more confident, more consistent, and you can really see the improvement building each race day. Next steps: 🔹 More track time 🔹 Start introducing subtle setup changes
