As I'm sitting here looking at the box of Thanksgiving decorations that haven't quite made it down our staircase yet to storage 🦃... I couldn't help but think of all the moments we try to pack away 'old versions' of ourselves.
>The old memories of things we have said, done, or experienced that make our cheeks feel flush...
>The belief patterns from childhood that still occasionally like to present themselves...
>The hands we were dealt that we didn't necessarily ask for...
These older versions of ourselves — the ones we try to outgrow, transform, or hide away — are often our greatest teachers. They’re signs that we’re actually walking the most aligned path RIGHT NOW.
You see, nothing is happenstance. Nothing is coincidence. And that older version of you that you are trying to tuck away into storage ... she actually serves such a big purpose.❤️🩹
She's propelled you into the person you are today.
>The mother you are for your children.
>The friend you are in your community.
>The partner you are to your spouse.
Without her ... you wouldn't be who you are today. And sometimes I think we forget the magic and magnitude in just that sentence alone. 😏
And just like Thanksgiving naturally flows into Christmas, one season of ourselves always leads into the next. And just like my staircase right now, sometimes we can actually see two seasons merging messily into one another. And we can choose to see the beauty in it.
So as things pop up this weekend and it mirrors a version of yourself that maybe you're trying to tuck away ... instead of attaching a negative emotion to her, I want you to just smile and thank her for still showing up for you. Still communicating to you. Still rooting for and pushing you to being your most authentic, truest self.
She isn't a nuisance.
She's a notion.
And notions are invitations — little whispers from your soul asking you to pause, pay attention, and honor the part of you that helped you get here.
So here’s your reflection for the weekend:
Which version of you has been resurfacing lately, and what might she be trying to remind you of right now?
