Intelligent Purpose Built AI Chatbot
I built a purpose-built AI chatbot to handle customer service for my application, but I’m struggling to make it both intelligent and fast.
The chatbot needs to understand what the customer wants, follow business rules, retrieve information from my application, perform actions when needed, and reply naturally through WhatsApp.
The problem is, the more rules and instructions I add to make it work correctly with my application, the less intelligent and natural it seems to become. It sometimes gets confused by simple or vague customer replies, follows rules too literally, or gives responses that just don’t make sense in the context of the conversation.
Speed is another issue. Some WhatsApp replies can take 15–20 seconds, which is too slow for a normal customer conversation.
What is the best architecture for making an AI chatbot understand customer intent semantically, select the right action/data, and generate an intelligent response quickly without stuffing hundreds of rules into every prompt?
Would appreciate advice from anyone who has solved this in a real production chatbot.
