Electrical Fundamentals: The First Thing Every HVACR Technician Should Check
⚡ Monday Electrical Tip ⚡
Great HVACR technicians don't start by replacing parts—they start by understanding the electrical circuit.
Before troubleshooting any HVACR system, ask yourself one question:
👉 Is the circuit complete?
A complete electrical circuit has five basic parts:
✅ Power Source
✅ Protection (Fuse or Breaker)
✅ Control Device (Thermostat, Relay, Switch, etc.)
✅ Load (Motor, Contactor Coil, Compressor, Heater, etc.)
✅ Return Path
If any one of these is missing or has failed, the equipment will not operate correctly.
💡 Pro Tip:
Always verify power with your multimeter before assuming a component has failed. A quick voltage check can save you time, money, and unnecessary part replacements.
👇 Today's Question:
When troubleshooting an HVACR system, what do you check first?
A️ Incoming Voltage
B️ Thermostat
C️ Breaker or Fuse
D️ Wiring Connections
E️ I’m still learning
