My friend just bought a vintage Rolex (1988). When I saw it, my instinct was that it was a fake. It had a jangly bracelet, stamped clasp and hollow end links. I was underwhelmed by the feel. Then I looked it up- all of those things were period correct. Now? Only the cheapest watches are like that- in fact, those are kind of the threshold for quality.
Nearly any watch over $100 would look and feel more substantial than this classic (I’m willing to bet a new base model Toyota Corolla would have a similar comparison to a vintage luxury car too!)
