The Amphitheatre Walking Track. – Blue Mountains National Park
Katoomba to Leura via the Amphitheatre Walking Track.
Roughly 3 to 4km and around 2 to 3 hours depending how long you spend down there.
Accessible by public transport, you can start from either Katoomba Station or Leura Station, both within walking distance to the track entrances.
From the Katoomba side, the trailhead begins near Furber Steps / Scenic World area, dropping you straight down into the valley.
From the Leura side, you can enter via Leura Cascades, following the creek system down into the same valley.
The track follows the creek through rainforest, mossy boulders and constant cascades before opening up into a natural rock amphitheatre with water running down the full rock face. There are more falls sitting further upstream at the head of it and heaps of birdlife the whole way through.
This area can become a flash flood zone after heavy rain, so take care and avoid entering during or after heavy rainfall.
