One of the biggest mistakes beginner crocheters make is buying everything they see.
You do not need 20 hooks, 50 skeins of yarn, and every crochet gadget to get started.
Here’s what I recommend buying first:
🧶 1 medium-weight (Category 4) yarn in a light color (it’s much easier to see your stitches!)
🪝 One hook size that matches your yarn label (usually 5 mm/H or 5.5 mm/I).
✂️ Sharp scissors
🪡 Yarn needle for weaving in your ends.
📍 A few stitch markers (trust me—they’ll save you so much frustration!).
✨ That’s it! Master the basics first, then slowly build your crochet collection as you learn.
💬 Let’s help each other out!
What’s one crochet supply you bought that you thought you needed… but barely use? 😂
👇 Drop it in the comments! It might save another crocheter some money.
