Control and ambition are the hot topics this week. The Sun, Venus, and Mars are all in a rare tight conjunction, with Mercury and the asteroids Juno and Vesta running nearby, all in Capricorn. Capricorn energy craves clear goals and organization, room to grow, and control over the surroundings. On a bad day, Capricorn can hide insecurities in overweening ambition, dominating control, compulsion, and power over others. On a good day, Capricorn energy organizes us and constructively builds with strength, honor, and respect, real leadership that encourages our independent personal control and power within.
Saturday, January 10: This could be potentially a day of extremes- motivation, confrontation, or liberation- as the Sun and Mars both oppose Jupiter. It will be hard to just sit around and do nothing. Let life’s small and large challenges- not just irritate- but mobilize into improving action. A desire to live large can expand our life or cause us to overestimate abilities and feed overweening ambition; ask if the action is good for just ourselves, or for all sentient beings, before proceeding. The mood quiets down towards the evening as the Moon squares Venus, people may still feel unsettled, but don't take it personally. This is more of a global condition.
Sunday, January 11: The Moon enters suspicious, focused Scorpio, squares Pluto, and brings serious thoughts and possibly a need for a moment alone. This energy is powerful for spiritual practice, concentration, and visioning, but can descend to sulking retaliation. Give people room if they're pulling inside; send love, but don't poke them; we have potentially deep work going on inside. Be there when they're ready to resurface.
Monday, January 12:Let's be careful what we obsess upon under this focused Scorpio Moon, make sure we’re not just reactionary but are working towards a worthy goal. As the Sun squares Chiron, we may have a chance to take some hard-won wisdom from our past- remember a problem we've overcome, a challenge we faced, a hole we dug ourselves out of- remember the resources we invoked then and apply them now. Or offer them as a resource to others. It’s a good time for our country to reflect on what we’ve learned through earlier woes and choose a better way forward.
