Hi everyone, I would truly appreciate some honest insight from those of you who have experience creating or publishing oracle decks.
I’m in the process of creating a 54-card oracle deck that is very personal and meaningful to me. It is based on a transformational pathway I lived through myself, what I would call a pathway to a miracle. Because of that, the deck is not just a collection of separate card meanings. It is built around a real journey.
This deck is also connected to a book and to my signature program, so it comes from a much larger body of work. At the same time, I want it to stand fully on its own in the oracle world as something people would love, use, and find genuinely valuable.
That is where I’ve started to second-guess myself.
After looking more closely at other decks, I found myself slipping into comparison and wondering if I’m doing this right. Right now, 19 of the 54 cards are more distinct visual cards, and the rest are part of a structured pathway system that includes threshold cards and elemental cards with written guidance. The written guidance is intentional because I want the deck to do more than look beautiful. I want it to help people move through something real.
So my question is this:
Does a deck that is rooted in a true transformational pathway, and connected to a larger body of work, feel like a strength in today’s oracle space?
Or do you feel a deck like this needs more highly distinct visual cards in order to feel compelling and desirable to buyers and readers?
In other words, is the pathway structure and written guidance a real benefit, or could I be limiting the deck by not making more of the 54 cards primarily visual?
This is only a brief explanation, but I would be deeply grateful for honest feedback. I’ve poured a great deal of heart, time, energy, and resources into this, and I want to make sure I’m seeing it clearly.
Thank you so much.
