Today feels bigger than just another day.
A chapter I’ve been fighting through is finally coming to a close as my civil lawsuit reaches its conclusion. At the very same time, my son walked into his very first day of work.
It made me stop and realize that sometimes God doesn’t just answer one prayer—He moves in multiple areas of your life at once. While one door is closing, He’s already opening another.
As I sat thinking about it all, I realized these moments didn’t happen overnight. They were built day by day.
I’ve always believed in raising my children with their future in mind. Since they were old enough to hold a broom or a dusting rag, they’ve earned allowances—not just to spend, but to learn how to save, invest, and understand the value of money. We’ve had honest conversations about my past, their father’s past, and how challenging it can be to build a stable life. I wanted them to learn from our experiences rather than have to repeat them.
Some people have told me my parenting was “too mature” for children so young. Maybe it was. But I wasn’t raising children just for today—I was raising future adults.
Now I’m watching that investment begin to bear fruit. My daughter, who is about to turn 13, is already dreaming of becoming a pediatric nurse and is taking her goals seriously. Today, my son started his very first job. As a mother, there are few joys greater than watching your children begin to walk confidently toward the future you’ve prayed for.
I don’t take any of this for granted. I know every family has a different journey, and I know my children will still have challenges ahead. But today, I choose gratitude. I thank God for His grace, for the strength to keep going through difficult seasons, and for allowing me to witness these beautiful milestones.
Sometimes God’s blessings aren’t loud. Sometimes they look like a child putting on a work uniform for the first time, a young girl dreaming big, and a weary mother realizing that all those little seeds she planted are finally beginning to grow.
