It’s been on my mind for ages now and finally we let the schools know that in term 2 our children won’t be returning to school. One of my core values is freedom and the other time. We just spend way too long in the car in Sydney each morning and afternoon. I know there’s a better way and we’re jumping right into it in a few months!
Am I nervous? Of course! But I know my discipline will rub off on my kids and they’ll absolutely flourish as humans and learn beyond what they’ll learn in school. I’m also excited to see how this year goes for us!
Today a huge win. They asked for iPad time to play Minecraft on the weekend. (Not allowed during the week) I negotiated reading books for minutes. Worked out well. Harry Potter came out and my 8 year old read 3 chapters. Another 6 books came out between my 5 & 6 year old. Trading my currency (learning) for fun. This is how we teach our kids about positive rewards. I love getting creative.
Does anyone here homeschool or have you ever thought of it?
