🔧 HVAC Tip of the Day: Airflow Comes First
Most technicians think refrigerant diagnostics is where a call begins.
But here’s the truth:
Airflow is the first domino — if it’s wrong, every reading after it lies.
Here’s what to check before anything else:
✔ Return air size
Minimum 144 square inches per ton
✔ Blower strength
A weak blower = false temperature split
✔ Filter condition
A clogged filter = refrigerant readings that lie
✔ Duct restrictions
Kinks, crushed sections, or closed dampers destroy accuracy
When airflow is off:
  • Suction looks low
  • Superheat looks wrong
  • Subcooling lies
  • Pressures mimic leaks
Fix airflow FIRST.
Diagnose SECOND.
