S.A.F.E (4-step Parent-Child Conversation Framework)
This is a framework I (use in my own Parenting and) bring Parents through , when something feels amiss.
When your child is having those out-of-proportion feelings/tantrums/meltdowns and as a Parent, you really want to find out more.
S – Slow down the environment (don’t react to the meltdown; lower the stimulation)
A – Acknowledge the surface feeling. “You’re upset about the toy. I’m here with you.”
F – Find the root gently. “Did anything uncomfortable happen earlier today?”
E – Explore together. Guide, don’t interrogate.
