I did YouTube for about 14 months and when I wasn't getting traction increased to two long form videos a week for about 8 months. Ended up with about 400 subscribers and eventually accepted it wasn't working the way I'd hoped - partly the niche, partly the format, partly just the sheer amount of effort for the return.
Now I'm thinking about going back but doing it differently. One video a week, much clearer niche, building a business alongside a full time job so everything I create has to earn its time.
But as someone like you who is doing podcasting , I genuinely don't understand the strategic difference. Is it the intimacy? The discoverability? The lower production barrier? The fact that people listen while doing other things? For someone building a personal brand around a specific niche what made you choose audio over video, or did you try both and land somewhere?
