Yesterday, I saw an advertisement on Instagram where the main ad copy said:
“Getting high ticket clients is not a rocket science.”
I was shocked to see how people are letting these gurus sell them a “La la land”.
The marketing guys are always trying to make everything feel simple and easy just for the sake of selling.
But I feel this is a massive blunder.
Because after someone buys from them with the wrong expectations of getting “easy” results, they are just going to go for a refund.
If getting clients or building a business was as simple as they say, literally everybody would have become successful and built a lot of wealth.
But that’s clearly not the case.
Only the top 1% of people who really understand the complexity of a business are the ones who actually make it in the game.
So yes — getting high ticket clients is a rocket science.
Business is a rocket science.
Here’s a crazy insight I got from my mentor, Alen:
Complex organisms eat simple organisms.
This is the ultimate truth of the universe.
Plants are very simple organisms. They can’t even move or talk on their own.
So they get eaten by organisms a little more complex than them like goats, lambs, or donkeys.
Now even if these goats and lambs are more complex than plants, they are still very simple compared to lions, tigers, or eagles. So they get eaten up by these more complex organisms.
This is how our food chain is formed.
And humans are at the top of the food chain because they are the most complex organisms on the planet (even if not as strong as a lion, tiger, or even a horse).
People who keep on saying “keep it simple” in life are usually the ones who are afraid to address and accept the complexity of the universe. And how complexity “always” wins.
They are not even able to comprehend and understand these complexities.
That is why they keep on saying “keep it simple”. And some of them start teaching you to keep it simple too.
Which does not lead anywhere and they stay stuck in life forever. (sometimes even get eaten up)
Keeping it simple is a BIG lie.
Life is complex by nature.
The Universe is complex by nature.
Business is complex by nature.
Come on, did you really think Jeff Bezos could build Amazon by just “keeping it simple”?
We can only make these complexities feel simple through a deep level of understanding.
And acquiring a deep understanding of everything is what we should aim for in life.
Such a deep level of understanding that it makes even the complex nature of business and life feel simple.
“Do not keep it simple. Turn complex into simple.”
Simple is the goal.
Simple is the destination, not the path.
The road to simplicity is filled with complexities.
The advice to “keep it simple” is extremely misleading because how can you keep it simple when you haven’t even understood the complexities yet?
So the bottom line is:
Business "is" a rocket science.
But if Elon Musk can literally build a real rocket and send it to space just from reading a book on building rockets…
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist either to build a big business.
It all starts with accepting that it is complex.
The moment you accept that it is hard:
You start building with the right expectations in mind.
You start to enjoy the complexities.
You start to enjoy figuring it out.
You start to enjoy the journey.
And people who enjoy the journey, reach the destination.
And as I said earlier, simplicity is a destination.
Here’s how you can stop wasting time trying to “keep things simple” and actually progress towards understanding the complexities of business.
Since I teach mostly about online businesses, we’ll narrow it down to just business for now. But remember, this applies everywhere in life.
You can only understand the complexities of business from two sources:
- Owned experiences
- Borrowed experiences
1️⃣ Owned experiences
Owned experiences are the ones where you go out there all by yourself, try figuring everything out, and gather your own experiences to understand the complexities of business.
But owned experiences burn a lot of time.
And as I keep on saying in most of my content, time is the most valuable asset of human life. We will be gone within a blink of an eye.
2️⃣ Borrowed experiences
Here’s where the second source comes in: borrowed experiences.
We need to admit that someone else has already burnt a lot of their valuable time to understand the complexities and figure out the game of business.
So instead of simply starting from zero all over again, why don’t we borrow the experiences that these people have already gathered over years?
It is the smartest move anybody can make.
This is why the role of teachers, coaches, and mentors is so important in our life — especially in business.
Now I am not asking you to pay hefty fees to these coaches.
If you do not have a lot of money to invest, just start with learning from books.
Books are a very dense source of borrowed experiences which will instantly boost your progress in figuring out the complexities.
Plus they are available for dirt cheap compared to the value they provide.
This is how I started as well.
Of course, you will progress much faster by having a coach who is hand-holding you at every step. But sometimes we are just not at the right spot to get a coach yet and that’s totally fine.
Start with books. (Or online forums like these)
Slowly, you will start understanding the complexities of building a business.
And there will be a point where you will feel everything is simple and you will find yourself standing on a million (or even billion) dollar business empire.
And now, in the age of AI, gathering borrowed experiences and understanding these complexities has become much faster.
But the core principle stays the same:
If you do not use it wisely and just try to “keep it simple”, you can easily be eaten alive. :p
