Experienced Thrifters/ Op Shoppers / Charity Shoppers

As many of you know I started a large fb group called Op Shopping New Zealand about 5 years ago, then one Christmas a pile of wonderful Australians starting joining the group and I realised that something was missing over there ...a nationwide Op Shopping Australia group, so I started that too. Both have built up over time but honestly I've started to feel like something is missing. Perhaps they got so big that the human connection felt like it was less? ...I'm not sure but there are a few reasons why I wanted to build a skool here.

Some of my background so far I've op shopped (thrifted) all my life, my mum still thrifts and she's nearly 80. In fact she's over in Japan right now sending photos back of amazing food, aquariums and anything that remotely resembles a thrift store! 😂

I've managed thrift stores, I opened 4 new stores in the last 3 years and helped set up another 15 or so and also reset around 10...I feel tired just telling you that.

When I'm not managing thrift stores (I don't do this when Im managing for obvious reasons) I'm a reseller and licensed secondhand dealer.

Right lets jump to the end of the story so its not all about me... over time I've noticed in the groups I have that there has been a huge influx in interest towards thrifting, its suddenly more socially acceptable which is cool. Which gave me just two ideas (I'm fibbing here I have more) 1/ get experienced thrifters to help new thrifters thrift 2/ create a global thrift network and share.

Once you look around you'll see there are ways to meet online and in real life with other thrifters. I'm excited also about someone being able to say hey I'm travelling to the UK where are the best charity shops and can we meet for coffee. You know locals always have the best rundown of their local thrift stores.

So forgive the ramble ... but this is the basis of why I wanted to start building a more connected community here.
