About Us
Here’s s a wee bit about us. Irish Stick Fighting Canada has been studying and instructing Bataireacht for over 11 years and HEMA (Medieval Swordplay Canada - Historical European Martial Arts) for 18+ years. We have trained world ranked HEMA members with some going on to open up 2 additional trainings schools.
Lead Instructor and Founder - Colin, was born in Newtonabbey, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The last of 5 children, he returned his parent’s ashes to the Belfast Cemetery many years ago. We are currently based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia which is known for its Celtic / Maritime flavour. Our instructions cover 3 groups of training - 3 “Historical” styles. 2 regional styles and swordplay itself.
