Introducing Myself
I grew up with parents who encouraged us to love music. We had soprano, alto, tenor, and sopranino recorders when we were young and were always singing. We all were in band in junior high and high school. However, we sang in the church choir as well during high school. After high school, I didn't do much musically for some years until I joined a new church and joined the choir again in my late 20's. I'm an alto and need strong singers around me to help me stay on the right notes. Although I can read music because of my band background, I can't match my voice to a note I see in a piece of music. I took two years of singing lessons through my church and had to perform in two recitals...the most scary thing I'd ever done musically (even considering all my years in band contests). When I began attending a church with a praise team but no choir, I didn't sing with them. Then came a couple of decades where I didn't sing unless I was singing along to some music on the radio. Now, I'd like to strengthen my voice again, if that's even possible. It sometimes cracks or "rattles/vibrates" when I'm singing, but sometimes is just fine. I love singing and want to be able to sing without my voice going wonky.
