I love, LOVE analogies. When I first learned to ground, in my very first Shamanism class, I felt it. Really did. But for a few months, I had to go through the step by step process of how I was taught to ground (connecting simultaneously with both divine energy and the earths energy) After a while I noticed a change, it was happening more and more frequently spontaneously. Ok, here is my (1980's ) analogy... I learned to drive a standard. (remember those?) and at first it was clutch, start the car, put it in gear...slowly let up on the clutch while pressing down on the gas. then after a few times, the brain disengaged and muscle memory took over. That is how my experience with grounding was. I found myself grounding on my own. There were certain physical signals that were always the same for me. Are there still time when I find myself incredibly ungrounded and need to go sit and intentionally ground. Of course! But its more of a normal state of my being now. And I love that.
