My goal is simple: to help keep the tradition of Rewena alive by sharing knowledge that honours our tūpuna while encouraging creativity, confidence, and community.
My name is Kurt, also known as Wiremu. My Rewena journey began as a child watching my grandmother Pearle and my mother Mihiora prepare kai together.
About ten years ago, I asked Mum to teach me how to create a Rewena bug and make Rewena dough. From that moment, I fell in love with the process.
I later completed the Coles Supermarkets Skilled Bakers Certificate, building my knowledge of fermentation, shaping, and baking.
The Rewena Collective is a place to explore traditional Māori Rewena, modern techniques, and the stories behind this special bread.
