Week 6 - Day 3: Teach Me to Feel Again
DAY 3 — “Teach Me to Feel Again”
Scripture Foundation:
Ezekiel 36:26 (AMPC)
“A new heart will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”
Highlighted Exegesis — “Stony Heart”
The Hebrew phrase for “stony heart” is leb ha’even, meaning:
  • hardened by disappointment
  • numb from repeated pain
  • emotionally shut down
  • resistant to vulnerability
  • protective, guarded, and closed
This is not rebellion — it is self-protection that became a prison.
A
stony heart forms when:
  • grief goes unprocessed
  • betrayal goes unhealed
  • trauma goes unspoken
  • disappointment goes unresolved
  • survival becomes a lifestyle
God does not condemn the stony heart — He replaces it.
He says, “I will give you a heart of flesh.”
“Heart of flesh” (leb basar) means:
  • tender again
  • responsive again
  • able to feel again
  • open to love again
  • willing to trust again
  • emotionally alive again
Healing is not just the removal of pain — it is the restoration of sensitivity.
A healed heart can:
  • feel without being overwhelmed
  • love without fear
  • trust without trembling
  • hope without hesitation
  • respond without shutting down
This is sanctification at the level of emotional resurrection.
It is not enough to function; you must feel again.
Reference Scriptures
  • Psalm 51:10 — Create in me a clean heart.
  • Psalm 34:18 — God is near the brokenhearted.
  • Isaiah 57:15 — God revives the contrite heart.
  • Hosea 10:12 — Break up the fallow (hardened) ground.
  • Matthew 5:8 — Blessed are the pure in heart.
Life Application — Day 3
Today is about emotional restoration.
You are inviting God to confront:
  • numbness that became normal
  • walls built from old wounds
  • emotional shutdowns that feel safe
  • guardedness that blocks connection
  • fear of vulnerability
  • survival patterns that suppress feeling
  • places where your heart has grown cold or distant
This is the day you allow God to soften what life hardened — so your heart can feel, respond, and love again.
Pray this throughout the day, “Lord, teach me to feel again. Remove the stony places. Restore tenderness. Make my heart alive, responsive, and whole.”
This is the day you stop living emotionally guarded — and start living emotionally restored.
Reflection Questions — Day 3
  1. Where has my heart grown numb or guarded
  2. What emotions have I suppressed instead of surrendered
  3. What caused my heart to harden in the first place
  4. What does emotional wholeness look like for me
  5. What must I release so God can soften my heart
