Principles to Guide Change
For those seeking to build a better life:
1) Same Input, Same Output
If you keep doing the same things, you will get the same results.
2) Incrementalism
Change happens bit by bit. You built your current life through an aggregation of a zillion little decisions. You will build your new one by aggregating new decisions -- but more consciously this time.
3) Compounding
However, change compounds. The change you make today becomes the foundation for the changes you make tomorrow. Growth becomes exponential. You probably won't notice when the curve turns upward -- until one day you look at your life and realize how completely different it's become.
4) Identity Is the Saboteur
We see through the lens of the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves. We've told ourselves a million different stories about the veracity of our limitations, and we won't see anything but limitation until we train ourselves to see with different eyes. We must pay close attention to the words we use to describe ourselves. We believe what we're saying.
