OMG, me being controversial today !
This post was inspired by a member's DM questions and their personal journey of discovery.
Alright, let's flip this completely.
Instead of me moaning about the gurus and the false profits, I'm more curious about us. About you.
Look, we all see the noise.
The glitzy ads, the AI-perfect faces, the "one weird trick" promises. We could sit here all day picking apart the smoke and mirrors. But I think that's too easy.
I want to turn the spotlight around.
What actually makes you open your wallet?
When you're scrolling, and you see that offer, and something inside you goes click, what is that feeling? What's going through your head in the split second before you swipe your card?
What are you actually hoping to find on the other side of that payment screen?
Are you looking for more money?
Better health?
A tribe that finally gets you?
And here's the heavier one. What are you secretly trying to fix?
Is there something that feels a bit broken, and you're hoping this next course, this next program, will be the thing that glues it back together?
In all this endless chasing of happiness, what do you genuinely think will finally make the difference for you?
Is it really the 48th video in a membership dashboard?
Or is it something you already know deep down, but it's just a bit harder, a bit slower, a bit more boring to actually do—so you buy the shiny shortcut instead?
I'm not asking to be clever. I've been there too. We all have.
But I reckon if we get honest about the why behind the swipe, we stop being easy targets. We start seeing the smoke for what it is.
So I'll leave it with you.
When that voice in your head whispers, "go on, just pay it, this one will be different"... what is that voice actually trying to heal?
