You told us what was really wrong...
We asked 3581 people in a recent survey, the top challenges they face in 2026. The results surprised us. The #1 struggle wasn't motivation. It wasn't branding. It wasn't even selling skills. It was lead generation. Specifically: • Not knowing where your next client is coming from • Putting in effort but seeing little return • Watching interested prospects go quiet So, we built something to fix that. The Ultimate Lead Gen Tap. A simple system to create a steady stream of qualified conversations. And, it's only $7 (£5) - You can unlock this now either in the 'classroom' tab at the top, or go to: https://www.peterthomson.com/the-lead-gen-tap Because solving this problem shouldn't require a second mortgage. Peter Peter Thomson "The UK's Most Prolific Business Development Author" P.S. I've added a special bonus: The follow-up script that generated an extra £1.8m in fees over a 4 year period. It exists because follow-up was the second-biggest problem reported.

Why "only three places left" stopped working
I have been thinking about the difference between manipulated urgency and meaningful urgency. Manipulated urgency is the flash sale, the fake countdown, the "only three places left" that somehow refreshes every time you visit the page. It still gets clicks, and it also gets long term mistrust. Meaningful urgency works differently, and it starts with telling people why. "I only take on four private clients at a time because each one gets one to one access to me" does far more work than "three places left", because there is a real reason attached to the number. Then there is the quiet shift from your deadline to our deadline. If we want your offer live before the holidays, we need the message signed off by Friday. Same date, completely different energy, and that one possessive pronoun did all the heavy lifting. Chip and Dan Heath wrote in Decisive that resistance is created through a lack of clarity, and I rather wish I had thought of that one first. Because pressure pushes people away, whilst partnership brings them towards us. I also created a video around this if you want more ideas on this topic.
Knowing When to Close
I have never believed that a good conversation closes itself. Years ago I learned to water ski, and once I could finally get up on one ski there was a new problem waiting for me. I had to learn how to cross the wake, those two great big V shaped waves coming off the back of the boat. You sit there looking at them and wonder how on earth anybody gets across into the calm water at the side. So how do you know when to cross? You just know. You make the decision, you pick your moment, and you go, and it turns out to be far easier than you feared. Closing a sale is exactly the same. There is no signal and no magic phrase from the client that means it is now safe to ask. There is only the stream of subtle, unspoken messages you are already picking up, and the courage to trust what you are reading. Yes, we learn how to sell, then we stop selling, and we allow people to buy. But somebody still has to say the words, and that somebody is you. I am curious where you are with this. Tell me which resonates most: a) I spot the moment and I ask, most of the time b) I spot the moment and then I talk myself out of it c) I am never sure the moment has arrived at all d) I know when, I just do not know what to say Drop your letter in the comments below.
