A Penny for your thoughts
As of Wensday November 13th 2025 the penny press has been stopped.
A decision came to stop manufacturing the coin because it was costing 3.69 cents to manufacture the Penny only worth 1.0 cents.
The Penny has a long history in the US at the first coin was minted in 1787.
After that the coin was changed and altered in 1793,1857,1943, and in 1982.
The Penny also has several coins that if you could find them will fetch you a small fortune .
A 1972 Birch Cent sold for 2.6 million dollars
A 1943 D Lincoln Bronze Cent was valued at over 2.3 million dollars in 2010.
A 1944-S Steel Wheat Penny that has been reported to no longer exist except for 2 copies does not even have a value on it.
A 1943 Cooper Pennie that had been struck with bronze in error can be worth a small fortune today.
A 1955 Doubled -Die Obverse Penny can also fetch you a lot of dollars today.
A 1909 -S VDB Lincoln Cent are often sought after by coin collectors today.
It definitely will have an impact on many more things to come. Rounding things off to 5 cents may be the newest move for many companies.
We will have to wait and see if removing the coin from our currency system will work in the end run or will the Penny make a return at some point in the future.
