Your 'aqeedah (creed) is very, very, very important. Someone with the wrong 'aqeedah can be outside of the fold of islaam.
But don't stress.
Alhamdulillaah learning 'aqeedah is VERY VERY VERY simple. It isn't a lot, and it isn't difficult.
So learn the correct creed with the following books:
- Thalatha al Usool
- al Qawa'id al arba'
- Kitaab At Tawheed
- Kashf ash Shubuhaat
- Nawaaqid al Islaam
Those 5 books are foundational. They are all about Tawheed and shirk and kufr, so every muslims must know these to be able to avoid shirk and to uphold Tawheed.
Estimated time to read them: 1 week.
After that learn these books:
- Al 'Aqeedah Al Waasitiyyah by Ibn Taymiyyah
- Lum'ah Al I'tiqaad by Ibn Qudaamah
- 'Aqeedah Ar Raaziyayn (a book in which everything has ijmaa' (consensus) of the early muslims, the salaf)
Especially the last book is VERY important. How big is it? 1/2/3 pages.
Estimated time to read them: 1 week.
After that there are a lot of books of the Salaf (early muslims) and of the khalaf (the later muslims) about the right 'aqeedah, but you at the beginning stage don't need that. If you want to advance learn Arabic.
