I quit drinking in 2023, and suddenly had a lot of big emotions to process. I started walking a ton to handle it all, regularly hitting 25K to 30K steps a day. A friend suggested I try running, but honestly, I couldn't run a half mile without stopping. While I didn't love it right away, I quickly realized that running was a powerful way to get me out of my head.
I powered through and completed my first 50K on October 26, 2024, in 6:35:15. I've kept pushing my limits, most recently finishing the tough Hennepin 100-mile race in 29:03:38 on October 4-5, 2025. I also really enjoy just putting on some good music and hitting the pavement or trail.
I decided to take a break from racing to focus on some other goals and build some more leg muscle. This break is all about hitting the reset button and getting back to the original reason I started running: to help me heal and grow. I'm excited to use this time to keep building a solid foundation and keep making progress, both in running and in life.
