Hi, I’m Yara , a high school student from Algeria. I’m passionate about computational neuroscience and aspire to study at MIT or Oxford and IVY leagues . However, I face challenges in my application process.
I don’t have many extracurricular activities since my country lacks opportunities for students in my field. I’m currently a member of a charity club, and I try to engage in activities whenever possible. Still, I feel like my profile is weak compared to other applicants.
I also struggle with writing my personal statement and essays, as I find it hard to choose the right events to showcase. After being rejected from HVTSP, I lost confidence in my ability to craft a strong application.
Another major concern is funding. My family cannot afford the tuition and living costs of universities like MIT or Oxford, so I am relying entirely on scholarships. If anyone has advice on strengthening my application, finding good extracurricular alternatives in a country with limited resources, or securing scholarships, I would really appreciate it!
