When I started as a PI in 2007, clients would come in, do a consultation and then we would charge a retainer (much like an attorney) and then bill out of the retainer.....for example a $2500 retainer billed at $75 / hour plus mileage and expenses. In this day and age, that pricing model is likely to get you less business.....or at least in my experience. So, I have been doing research on ideas to make your services more attractive to clients (law firms, individuals, etc..) and what seems to be a popular trend is Surveillance packages. Charging a flat rate based on the needs of your client.....with the understanding that they may need to secure additional funds for further evidence.......to expand.....let's say a client is suspicious of infidelity....they start with a basic surveillance package to determine if further evidence is needed. I will go into much more detail on this and obviously the rates are just an example but here is a sneak peek. More on this to come soon.
