Proverb of the Day 26
“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you yourself will be just like him.” (v.4)
Proverbs 26 is all about discernment, discipline, and direction.
It reminds us that wisdom isn’t just knowing what to say — it’s knowing when to stay silent.
Not every battle deserves your energy.
Not every comment deserves your response.
Sometimes wisdom means walking away, not winning the argument.
This chapter exposes foolishness for what it is — loud, impulsive, and prideful:
• “As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.” (v.11)
• “Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them.” (v.12)
• “Without wood a fire goes out; without a gossip a quarrel dies down.” (v.20)
• “A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.” (v.28)
Proverbs 26 teaches that maturity isn’t about proving you’re right — it’s about protecting your peace.
When you stop engaging with foolishness, you start walking in freedom.
Challenge:
Guard your words.
Choose your battles wisely.
And let your silence speak louder than someone else’s noise.
