Food tracking and perfection- how to set yourself up for success without going crazy!
Sometimes just knowing where and how to start with food tracking can be absolutely overwhelming! I know because I have been there! It doesn’t have to be as hard as our brains make it out to be because we have so many ways now to help us with the internet and apps literally right at our fingertips everyday!
One of my favorite apps to use is the Ladder app for all my workout and food tracking needs! It really makes it simple to track what you need for your goals and needs.
So here is the thing- you don’t have to be perfect to understand what’s going on with your body everyday.
Simply tracking what you’re eating can show you a huge amount of information into your particular body situation.
For example- when I put in my information according to my body goals I was surprised at how many calories I could eat in a day and still achieve the progress I wanted. I was always taught that stricter is better, but in this season of my life it is really hard to avoid certain foods and knowing what my calorie goals should be, my protein goals should be and the progress that is possible with those two things in mind- I was incredibly surprised and happy to know I could still eat!
So the first thing I have had to do is realize that my body doesn’t have to starve to burn. It’s actually quite the opposite. Starting a woodstove and getting it going and keeping it going requires fuel for the fire to burn hot.
Starving ourselves is actually defeating the purpose and lowering our metabolisms. It is also not helpful for the hormonal seasons that many of us find in after 40.
