The most important core numbers include your Life Path Number, Expression (or Destiny) Number, Soul Urge (or Heart’s Desire) Number, and Personality Number.
Here’s how to calculate these core numbers using your birth date and full name:
1. Life Path Number
The Life Path Number is considered the most important number in numerology, as it reflects your overall life purpose, challenges, and the general direction of your life. It’s derived from your birth date.
How to calculate:
- Write out your full birth date in the format MM/DD/YYYY. For example, if you were born on July 14, 1990, your birth date is 07/14/1990.
- Add together all the digits in your birth date.
- Add the resulting numbers together: 7 + 5 + 1 = 13 → 1 + 3 = 4.
- Your Life Path Number is 4.
If your sum is a master number (11, 22, or 33), you do not reduce it further, as these are considered powerful numbers in numerology.
2. Expression (or Destiny) Number
The Expression Number reveals your natural talents, abilities, and the person you are meant to be in this life. It’s derived from your full birth name (first, middle, and last names).
How to calculate:
- Write your full name as it appears on your birth certificate.
- Convert each letter of your name to its corresponding number using the Pythagorean system:

- Identify the vowels in your full birth name (A, E, I, O, U).

4. Personality Number
