Understanding Patriarchy
Her mother woke at 5 a.m. every day.
Cooked. Cleaned. Endured.
She called it strength.

she felt offended.
“I survived it,” she said. “You will too.”
Internalized patriarchy sounds like:
“I survived it, so you should too.”
