The Calm in the Stable is a community for anyone exploring how horses can support regulation, confidence, and gentle learning... especially when traditional routes aren’t working.
I’m a mum and SEN advocate. I built this because I had to. When you’re supporting a child with high anxiety and additional needs, you end up searching for anything that helps them feel safe enough to engage with life again.
For us, that “one thing” has been horses, not because they fix everything, but because they help the nervous system settle enough for progress to happen.
I’m not a therapist, and I’m not here as an expert. I’m documenting what we’re trying in real time: what helps, what doesn’t, and what I’m learning along the way.
You don’t need horse knowledge to be here.
If horses have become your “one thing that helps” or you’re hoping they could be, you’re in the right place.
Important note: This community is for shared experiences & support. It isn’t medical advice and doesn’t replace professional care.
