Hi all! Think of this post as your map of the community. I'd love for you to read through it once so you know where everything lives and how each space is meant to be used, and feel free to bookmark it if you want to come back later.
📣 Announcements
This one is admin-only, which just means it's me posting. Anything you need to know about platform updates, new module drops, or schedule shifts is going to land here, so if something feels different around the community, this is the room to check first.
👋 Start Here
This is your orientation point, where the welcome post lives along with anything new members should read first. If you just walked in and you're not sure where to begin, the door is right here.
💬 General Discussion
This is the catch-all room, the place for all the conversational, low-stakes, high-warmth stuff that doesn't need its own home. Tell us what's growing on your windowsill, what you're brewing on the stove, what you read this morning that lit you up, the random herbal thought you had in the shower at 7am. This is where we just hang out.
🧪 Case Discussions
This is where we work through anonymized case puzzles together, and because we're talking about real human lives even when stripped of identifying details, there are a few ground rules I want to lay out so this room stays useful and ethical for everyone.
- Every single case has to be fully anonymized, with no names and no identifying details that could connect the post back to a real person.
- We're not diagnosing or prescribing for the person in the case. We're thinking out loud about clinical reasoning, asking what we'd want to know more about, and discussing which body systems we'd prioritize and why.
- If you're bringing a case from your own practice, frame the question clearly so people know what kind of help you're looking for, whether that's a fresh perspective, a system to investigate, or just someone to think alongside you.
Jump in even if you're newer to this kind of reasoning, because the whole point is to think out loud together, and that's how all of us get better.
🌿 Materia Medica
This is the room for single herbs, herb pairs, preparations, sourcing, sustainability, all of it. Bring your working knowledge, bring the preparation you swear by, bring the thing you noticed in your own practice that you can't quite explain yet but want to talk through. Don't worry about being formal here, because this room runs on real-world experience just as much as it runs on research.
🔬 Mechanism of the Week
Every Monday I'll drop a mechanism question, and the whole point is to get us thinking about why an herb does what it does rather than just that it does it. Drop your answer in the comments along with your reasoning, and I'll come back later in the week with the full breakdown. This is one of my favorite rooms, honestly, because the reasoning is the practice.
❓ Ask Agy
This is the place to bring your questions about herbalism, anatomy, physiology, or anything that lives in the overlap between them. The way it works is simple: drop your question as a new post, and I'll either reply in the thread or, if the question deserves a fuller answer, record a short video and post it back, but either way you're getting a response.
A few things to keep in mind so this room works for everyone. Questions need to be herbalism or anatomy/physiology based, because that's what I'm trained in and what I can actually speak to with confidence. I also can't give medical advice or recommend specific protocols for individuals, so if that's what you need, a one-on-one consult is the right format for it. And the richer your question, the richer the answer is going to be, so tell me what you've already been thinking about, what you've read, and where you're getting stuck.
Bring me your good questions. I love this part!
🎉 Wins & Field Reports
This is the celebration room, the one where you bring the tincture that came out beautifully, the plant ID you finally got right after months of squinting at field guides, the mechanism that clicked after weeks of confusion, the first time you reached for something other than chamomile. None of these are small wins, because we're building a practice here, and every piece of it counts toward the whole.
📚 Resources & References
Admin-only again, just me posting. Think of this as the community's reference shelf, where I'll be adding the reference sheets that pair with classroom modules, papers worth reading, books and databases I trust, and occasional pieces from elsewhere that pair with whatever we're discussing in the feed. If there's something you'd love to see added to this shelf, drop the request in Ask Agy and I'll see what I can do.
