Dad skipped the reminder once and it mattered
Evan has this thing where he tells me he doesn't need reminders. He knows the steps. He'll remember.
So I've been trying to respect that and not hover.
The one session I didn't ask 'Hey, are you recording?' was the session he forgot to record.
His whole side of the episode is gone. All the stuff he said. The house tour he planned. Gone.
I'm not blaming him. He's 10, but I'm also not pretending the timing isn't remarkable. The one time I listened to 'I don't need reminders, Dad' was exactly the wrong time.
He now gets a month of reminders. That was my official ruling and I stand by it.
What's the responsibility you stopped reminding your kid about and then immediately regretted?
