Belief Detox of the week: I am misunderstood.
Have you ever felt like no one truly gets you?
Like your heart is pure… but your words land wrong?
Like people assume things about you that aren’t true? You’re not alone.
Even Jesus was misunderstood.
“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief.” – Isaiah 53:3
If the Son of God was misunderstood… it doesn’t mean you’re broken.
But here’s the deeper question:
What belief formed inside you because of it?
Sometimes when we feel misunderstood repeatedly, the subconscious forms beliefs like:
• “It’s not safe to speak.”
• “I have to over-explain myself.”
• “No one really sees me.”
• “I’m different in a bad way.”
And those beliefs quietly shape how we show up.
Close your eyes for a moment.
Father, if I have partnered with the belief that I am unseen, unheard, or unsafe to express myself — I release it now.
I choose the truth:
• I am fully known by God. (Psalm 139:1-4)
• I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
• The right people will understand me.
• I do not have to shrink to belong.
Holy Spirit, replace any false belief with Your truth.
Take a breath.
You don’t need everyone to understand you.
You need alignment.
And the people God assigns to your life will recognize your heart.
If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, what belief do you think formed because of it?
