Making space for intentionality
I am just starting the Awakening module and you ask this question “What do my days feel like when I’m on default mode vs. when I’m intentional?” This got me because I realized it has been so long that I have been on default mode in different areas and since COVID I feel like it went into the majority areas of my life. I would pile on things to feel productive. I am guilty of not allowing empty space to fill it because I was running from thinking and feeling. But now I have the opportunity to really look at my day and decide how can I make this moment intentional.
Stay Calm
I had a family member tell me my calmness is annoying in the midst of whatever is going on. Imagine people being triggered by good qualities?! I’m surprised by this comment from this family member. So I took it as a test for how I would respond. We are going through something that the process just has to play out but everyone is doing the best they can. I told this person that if they’re riled up, it’s not going to be beneficial for me to be as well. Plus it causes stress and wrinkles and doesn’t change anything for the better. People will often want you to be performative and react to things in a way that they think is acceptable given the situation. It doesn’t mean I don’t care but I direct my energy on the things I can change. I’m just a calm person even under pressure and I think it’s one of my superpowers. 😉
1st steps
I’m posting this here as a way to say publicly I choose to live intentionally: what does intentional life look like in my life. 1st it means I need to slow down to preserve my energy and then find ways to give me energy and not drain it. Starting with nutrition, sleep and movement. Then less phone and computer time, increase outdoor time. Playing music that speaks to my heart and soul. Moving slowly, dressing with intention, taking care of my body and skin. Looking at my husband as how do I get to bless him today and my kids. Planning dinners ahead even if it’s a light meal of fruit or porridge or soup. Making sure I hug them daily minimum. Smiling more. Helping my mom to get out of the house and around people. Going to gym during lunch even if it’s just to walk on treadmill. Scripting my intentions
