Missing Pieces
My heart is like a puzzle
The outside corners all in place
My middle is missing pieces
Like a jigsaw puzzle, incomplete
One person adds a piece gently
Making sure it fits perfectly
While others try to force what doesn’t
Instinctively I withdraw make space
I wait for the next person to see
The right shape, right background
Someone who wants to complete
My puzzle make it whole, beautiful
Thought I had that someone
Discovered they don’t like puzzles
They walked away bending pieces
As they left, removing a corner stone
Here I lay on this lonely table
Will anyone take the time?
Does anyone care to try?
Jigsaw puzzles aren’t for everyone
Neither is my heart!
