Can someone walk me through the ins and outs of using contracts in freelancing?

How do you even start creating one?
What key elements should I include in its content?
Do contracts need to be stamped to be legally binding?
Is it necessary to use a contract every time?
And when it comes to digitally signing contracts, what's the best medium to use?
Do I need to make a new one every time or are there templates available?
