$10,000 and a Decision
New piece is live!
Our team dug up the history nobody teaches: in 1862 the government really did pay slavery reparations — to the slave owners, $300 a head, while the freed got nothing unless they left the country. That $300 is worth about $10,000 today.
So we flipped it into a game: if that check finally came to the right people, here's how we’d spend it — land, a bet on a Black woman's business, and a trip home to Africa.
Now I want yours, and have FUN with this one:
You just got a $10,000 reparations check. No rules. What's the plan? The dream land, the business you'd back, the trip, the debt you'd clear, the person you'd bless — lay it out.
And one to sit with after the fun: what does it tell you that in 1862 this country thought the safest place for that money was the enslaver's pocket — and that it still funds the people who already have the most?
