Working Hard or Hardly Working?
My father-in-law used to say something that stuck with me:
If working hard alone made people wealthy, construction workers, landscapers, and housekeepers would all be billionaires by now.
No disrespect to any profession, hard work matters. Always has.
But working smart has always been the missing half of the equation.
I once had a boss who, every time he walked by, would joke:
“Are you working hard… or hardly working?”
We laughed. But there’s irony there.
Because today, that question actually matters.
That’s where AI changes the game.
AI isn’t about avoiding work. It’s about eliminating wasted effort.
Cutting friction. Reducing rework. Raising the quality of what we produce.
If AI gives us back even 40% of our time and helps us do better work, that’s not incremental, that’s transformational!
Time saved and quality improved used to be a trade-off. Thanks to AI, it doesn’t have to be anymore.
Now the real question is no longer a joke:
What will you do with that extra time?
Make more money?
Build something better?
Spend more time with the people who matter most?
Or diversify it between all?
The tools are here.
The leverage is real.
The choice is ours. Thanks IP, TR & DG!
