Clarity Requires and Needs Honesty
The Expert Trap
---
The Lie Everyone Repeats
Everyone online talks like decisions happen cleanly.
Like smart people sit down, analyse the options, then calmly choose the correct path.
They don’t.
Most people are not struggling with decisions.
They’re struggling with exposure.
Because the moment a decision becomes real, you have to admit things you’ve been avoiding.
What you actually want.
What you’re scared to lose.
What staying is costing you.
That’s the part nobody wants to write down.

The 3 Hour Spiral
A few months ago I spent nearly 3 hours trying to decide whether I should leave a job.
Not deciding.
Not researching.
Just trying to figure out which “expert” I should ask ChatGPT to become.
Career coach.
Executive mentor.
Hiring strategist.
Psychologist.
At one point I had 11 tabs open trying to find the exact job title of the kind of person who helps with decisions like this.
I thought precision would create clarity.
It didn’t.
It created delay.
---
The Weird Shift
Then I typed:
“You’re a career coach…”
And something changed instantly.
Not the AI.
Me.
I stopped writing like I was trying to engineer the perfect prompt.
I started writing honestly.
What I was afraid of.
What I wanted.
What would happen if I stayed another year.
What I’d regret if I left too late.
The role never changed the answer.
It changed how willing I was to tell the truth.
---
The Real Bottleneck
That’s when I realised most people don’t need better advice.
They need a safer way to admit what they already know.
So I built one reusable decision system.
Now every decision runs through the same process.
Money.
Career.
Relationships.
Doesn’t matter.
Because the bottleneck was never intelligence.
It was clarity.
And clarity usually arrives one uncomfortable sentence after the excuses stop.

Something to Ponder On 🤔
How many of your “hard decisions” are actually just delayed honesty?
Remember:
People don’t avoid decisions because they lack answers.
They avoid them because answers have consequences.
